From the past 5 Blogs we know that faster brain waves are linked to high-energy intensity, stress and hypervigilance. What we need to do is learn is how to change the brain waves when needed from high to low frequency. When we need to relax and slow down we need to learn and practice how to get there. We can do this through Mediation and Mindfulness.
Meditation can prompt the brain to shift from those high-alert waves to the slower, more relaxed waves that are linked to states of calm, deep focus, and sleep. Meditation is the deliberate focusing of attention to bring about the feelings of calm and heightened energy and awareness. Regular meditation offers many health benefits, such as reduced stress and anxiety. There are many different ways to meditate, such as using a mantra, looking at an object or focusing on the breath.
The difference between meditation and mindfulness is that meditation is a dedicated practice more like an exercise routine. Mindfulness you can practice throughout the day, where ever you go and what ever activity you are doing. You can slow down and eat mindfully, we can mindfully be thinking about each bite and each chew of our food. The fact is both work to help our well-being and live more in the present and finding calm. That of absolute benefit for our overall health both mind and body.
