Faith is “Even If”

There is the thought of having faith in the outcome “even if” involves trusting in something, even when facing uncertainty or challenges, and that faith is not dependent on circumstances or outcomes.  We talked about “what if” in Blog #118.

The difference between the Phrases “Fear is” and Faith is even if” is that fear focuses on the negative outcomes and faith focuses on trusting and believing that even if things go wrong, it can still be ok.  The breakdown is that fear based is dwelling on potential problems, anxieties and negative possibilities leading to overwhelm and freezing on decisions and outcomes.  Whereas faith based is characterized by resilience. Hope and trust that even if you face adversity or uncertainty, believe that you can make it through the challenges.

Both represent believing in things you don’t actually know, outcomes that you can only imagine.  The significance is that “even if” faith is freeing and calming, and “what if” fear based is confining and makes your world scary and small.  The question is which life would you rather live open and free or confined and scared?

It is thought that it creates both fear and faith. While thoughts themselves don’t directly alter external reality, they can significantly influence your actions, perceptions, and ultimately, the reality you experience.  Thoughts and beliefs shape your actions, and these actions in turn create outcomes and experiences.  An example, if you persistently believe you can’t achieve a goal, you might not take the steps to go towards that goal and limit your chances of success.  This is the difference between perception and interpretation.

There is power in positive thinking, this can motivate you to take action that can lead to positive outcomes. Thus, increasing your chances of achieving your goals.  Much of our personal reality is created by selectively filtering information and interpreting events based on our existing beliefs. Your thoughts and beliefs can create self-fulfilling prophecies, where your expectations about an outcome influence your actions, ultimately leading to that outcome.  You think your way to reality.
