Molecules of Emotion was written by Candace B. Pert, PhD and internationally recognized neuroscientist and pharmacologist who has published over 250 research articles. Candace’s work began to gain recognition in the 1908’s, the book was published in 1997. That was 25 years ago! The original key paper written in 1985 identifying that she had proved that neuropeptides and their receptors join the brain, glands and immune system into a network of communication between brain and body. Candace believe that this was the biochemical surface of what emotions bond to.
It is, therefore, understandable how meditation, breathing techniques, exercise or tapping all have value in the healing process. It is connecting the body in an insightful way. It is also understandable how the CBT strategies assist those with mental health because it provides the connection between feeling and thinking. Now we know that there are chemicals that assist with those feelings.
Logically then, working with our bodies to be efficient in absorption of nutrients would make us feel better emotionally as it would build the biochemical surface to be efficient. This makes perfect sense. It is not radical either. It is science.
