We don’t realize the significance in balancing blood sugar and the role it plays in mood and overall health.  Have you ever had the “Hangry Feeling”? That is probably blood sugar issues.

Blood glucose chaos makes way for a pattern of reactive Hypoglycemia, a condition where blood sugar level drops too low in non-diabetic individuals.  It leads to the feelings of “hanger” irritability and anxiety.  Having good glycemic control can play a major role in improving mood.

Glucose is the fuel of the brain and it can be reflective of the level of stress, irritability and anxiety amid other emotional states.  The Glucose Metabolism highlights are Insulin is a hormone created by the pancreas that controls the amount of glucose in a person’s bloodstream at any given moment.  It helps store glucose in the liver fat and muscles, and regulates the body’s metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.  After eating, blood glucose levels rise.  Insulin released by the pancreas helps the cells to absorb glucose for energy and storage for energy later.

Stress and lifestyle can cause blood glucose fluctuations and are so inextricably linked to some habits that can play into an overall sense of feeling stressed out.  Such lifestyle habits as late-night eating, not sleeping enough, not drinking enough water all have a big influence on blood glucose levels.

So once again the road leads to healthy lifestyle habits!
