What exactly does ACE mean? Adverse Childhood Experience regarding childhood trauma. These are childhood experiences that are stressful, potentially traumatic events or situation like abuse, neglect or household dysfunction. These experiences can have a negative long-term impact on the person’s physical health, mental health and behaviour.
Some of us have more resiliency than others, why is that? Your thinking and your genetics play a role in your resiliency. When anyone goes under stress your body responds for survival, it is programmed this way and not a choice. Immediately, hormones are released like cortisol, adrenaline and norepinephrine, others too but these are the big three. These hormones can take approximately 21 days to detox from your system and if you are growing up in family chaos then the chance of another incident where more hormones get released over top of the already existing hormones in your system is likely. What if you have a genetic issue where you do not detox well? Then the hormones stay in your system longer. Spelling physical and mental trouble.
What this means is physical issues like stomach, cortisol is meant to slide through your stomach, so that you stomach empties, this is so your body is using all the energy for survival not digesting. So, most people who have ACE will probably experience stomach issues.
What other issues are sugar or glucose issues, high blood pressure, heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Anxiety or depression, poor memory a weakened immune system leaving you susceptible to infections.
